U2 fans have heard plenty of rumors regarding the band’s much-anticipated upcoming album, with some reports stating the album will arrive this year and others pushing it into 2015. Rolling Stone has gotten to the bottom of it, with a spokesperson for U2 telling the publication the new tunes are likely coming soon: “We’ve always said an album is expected this year.”
Further evidence of a 2014 release comes from a representative for the group’s label who confirmed to the U2 fan site AtU2.com that the release will arrive in 2014.
There’s even a chance we’ll get a new U2 single next month. According to The Irish Times, a “music industry source” has revealed a breakdown of when new U2 music will arrive. “[There will be a] single in September, album September-October, tour announced December, first date April next year,” the source explained. “”The album has been actually been finished for a few months, but a decision was taken not to release during the summer months because of holidays, etc.”
French newspaper Nice-Matin also reported that U2 was in Nice, France, last week filming a new music video.
U2’s upcoming album will be the follow-up to U2’s 2009 release, No Line on the Horizon.
