It’s no secret that Neil Diamond has strong ties to Boston. Major League Baseball fans are well aware of the fact “Sweet Caroline” is played during the eighth inning of each and every Boston Red Sox home game.
On Tuesday (April 16), the team’s perpetual rival, the New York Yankees, played the tune following the third inning of their home game in honor of Boston.
Diamond approved, tweeting and writing on Facebook, “Thank you NY Yankees for playing ‘Sweet Caroline’ for the people of Boston. You scored a home run in my heart. With respect, Neil #OneBoston.”
Following suit, the Chicago Cubs also rocked out to “Sweet Caroline” during the eighth inning of their Tuesday home game.
