Peter Hook Performs Classic New Order Albums
Former New Order bass player Peter Hook and his band The Light will perform New Order's Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies albums in full for North American audiences in September 2013.
The shows will feature full performances of both albums in full sequential order, as well as singles and B-Sides from the corresponding period including Everything’s Gone Green, Temptation and Blue Monday, which New Order generally didn’t include on the releases, preferring their LPs to stand alone in comparison to the singles.
Peter Hook & The Light played their first UK shows in January to critical acclaim, but they've been to the USA in December 2010 and September 2011, performing Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures and Closer albums.
Support on the tour will come from Slaves of Venus.
Hook says his distinctive and innovative bass style developed in part because when he started playing, he was using a cheap and nasty amplifier with a dodgy speaker, forcing him to play higher notes just to be able to hear himself over Bernard Sumner's guitar. His playing become even more melodic as the New Order began to more deeply explore sequenced basslines.
