Digital October is a non-profit organization whose aim is to promote business and technology in Russia. One of the organization's objectives is to host an interactive video conferencing seminar called "Knowledge Stream." For the first time, the program includes music technology and "The Future of Music," which featured Gibson Executive Vice President Craig Anderton speaking live from Nashville to an audience in Russia. The event was also streamed online.

On site in Russia was Scorpions guitarist Rudolf Schenker. The Scorpions have a special significance in Russia due to their song "Wind of Change." Released in 1990, the song celebrated Glasnost and the end of the Cold War. Anderton's speech was broadcast over the Internet in real-time, without a hint of latency, prompting Schenker to joke that Digital October must have been using the latest KGB communication technology to accomplish such a feat.

Schenker had a couple of Gibson guitars with him on stage. One was a black acoustic Gibson Flying V, and the other a Gibson Flying V hand painted by Brazilian-American artist Romero Britto.
