Asia guitarist Steve Howe has left the reformed veteran group in order to concentrate more fully on his other projects.
“Myself and the band wish to thank their fans for the enthusiasm shown during the original members’ reunion" said Howe in a statement. “I will continue with Yes, and with my trio and solo guitar work. I wish my friends continued success.”
Just a day later, Asia have now announced Howe’s replacement: Sam Coulson.
Coulson will debut at Sweden Rock in 2013 and on a new, forthcoming album. John Wetton, Geoff Downes and Carl Palmer are said to be “delighted,” describing Coulson as an “incredible talent.” John Wetton states that Asia is “ready to take its next steps along this remarkable road. We cannot wait to perform again for the fans and also to unveil some of the new material, of which we are very proud.”
Geoff Downes added that the group were looking forward to “writing another chapter in Asia's history.”
