Woody Allen Bestows Sudden Fame on Little-Known Band

The trailer of Woody Allen's latest film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, due out September 5, is without dialogue. Instead, an upbeat little Spanish song called "Barcelona" from virtually unknown band Giulia y Los Tellarini plays throughout.

In response, the band—which has a modest 222 friends on MySpace and released their first album on iTunes just last month
has gotten a flurry of press recently, with the Hollywood Reporter and Reuters picking up the story stateside.

Allen himself hand-picked the band after a girlfriend of one of the band members left their CD at the Barcelona hotel where he was staying.

Lead singer Giulia Tellarini told Reuters that when she found a MySpace message from one of Allen's people she
thought it was a joke. "I didn't think that something like this could happen," she said.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona stars Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, and Javier Bardem.
