Les Paul Studio Classic '60s
A firm favorite with hard-gigging players ever since its arrival on the scene back in 1983, the Les Paul Studio has established itself as a "modern classic" for its appealing blend of no-nonsense swagger and easy affordability. A new addition to the lineup from Gibson USA, the Les Paul Studio Classic '60s, exclusive to Sam Ash, packages the best features of the great Studio models of three decades along with some great new cosmetic twists that really help to make this Les Paul pop.

In addition to all the classic tonewoods that lay the foundation of any great Les Paul, a fast '60s neck carve and a pair of outstanding Gibson USA humbucking pickups, the Les Paul Studio Classic '60s has an exclusive Manhattan Midnight dark blue burst finish in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, along with white plastic fingerboard binding, white trapezoid inlay and white pickup ring and switch ring for an distinctly contrasting look that adds elegance to the usual Studio format. In short, it's a Les Paul Studio model with looks that are every bit the equal of its stunning tone and playability.

Like the most revered Les Paul Standards of all time, the Sam Ash-exclusive Les Paul Studio Classic '60s starts with the legendary combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. The mahogany brings outstanding tonal depth and richness, while the maple adds superb clarity and "snap." And the Grade-A cut looks fantastic beneath its translucent finish. In addition, the chambering of this guitar's mahogany body enhances resonance while also reducing the guitar's overall weight considerably. And even in this more affordable instrument from Gibson USA, the glued-in solid-mahogany neck is cut to the superior "quarter-sawn" grain orientation for superior strength and optimum resonance transfer between neck and body. The neck is carved to a slim, fast '60s-style profile that measures .800" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 12th. It is topped with a baked maple fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets. The guitar has a PLEK-cut Corian nut, and to further maximize vibrational energy, Gibson includes its legendary Tune-o-matic bridge and stud-mounted stop bar tailpiece with high-quality Grover kidney button tuners at the top.

Plug in, and this superb blend of tonewoods and stellar hardware rams it all home through a pair of Gibson USA's acclaimed Modern Classics pickups. Made with an Alnico II magnet and coils wound to the specs of original PAF humbuckers, the 490R in the neck position provides creamy, warm vocal tones with outstanding articulation. Made with an Alnico V magnet and extra turns of wire for added punch and grind, the 498T in the bridge position excels at wailing leads and thundering crunch tones. Together, routed through the classic complement of two independent volume controls and two independent tone controls with a three-way toggle switch, these pickups provide all the sonic versatility that has helped make the Les Paul Standard famous.
