Offering an alternative take on the hard-rocking tones and shred-certified performance, Kramer’s Assault series has taken carved-top singlecut styling boldly into territory normally dominated by the offset-double-cutaway crowd. Now Kramer brings the Assault 220 Plus EMG to the range, a guitar loaded with highly desirable features, available as a “hardtail” model, or with a Floyd Rose™ vibrato tailpiece, plus a set of upgraded active humbucking pickups for optimum tonal versatility. The Assault 220 Plus EMG is designed with the classic maple-mahogany tonewood combination and single cutaway styling made famous by Gibson’s Les Paul way back in 1952, but updated with a sharper body horn, a slimmer, more comfortable body and glued-in mahogany neck. Finished in Gloss Black, and married to Kramer’s new back-angled, 3-3 “Assault” headstock shape, it cuts a figure like no other axe out there.

The maple top/mahogany body tonewood combination has become legendary for good reasons, and the Assault 220 Plus EMG proves its case yet again. By blending the warmth, depth, and creamy low-end response of mahogany with maple’s high-frequency clarity and articulation, the Assault 220 Plus covers all the sonic bases with ease. A solid mahogany neck—glued in, rather than bolted—further contributes to the Assault 220 Plus’s resonance and sustain, while a fast SlimTaper™ profile and 24-fret maple fingerboard let you rev up all the speed you can muster. In another twist on the format, the Assault 220 Plus EMG is built to the 25 1/2” scale length that many shredders prefer, which offers tight, thumping lows, crystal-clear highs, and shimmering harmonics.

To provide its full frontal attack, the Assault 220 Plus EMG is loaded with a pair of premium EMG® humbuckers, two of the most popular active humbuckers ever created. An EMG 85® in the neck position provides outstanding depth and clarity, while a hotter EMG 81® in the bridge position yields extremes of power and punch for both solo and rhythm playing, while cleaning up beautifully when you wind back the guitar’s volume. With their unparalleled fidelity and sensitivity, coupled with the high output of active pickups, these EMGs truly are unmatched. For optimum versatility, the pickups are routed through independent volume controls with push-pull switching for series/parallel tones, and master tone control plus three-way selector switch. The guitar is loaded with a high-performance Floyd Rose™ “double-locking” vibrato bridge and locking nut, or a recessed Tune-o-matic bridge with through-body stringing. Both have black die-cast tuners with white buttons up top. The Assault 220 Plus is primed for massive resonance and sustain, and ready for all the rock action you can dish out.
